Through my education and life-experience, I have picked up various multi-disciplinary skills. In my pursuit of knowledge and abilities, this list is only going to grow 😀
I obtained my Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering in 2004 from
The Univerisity of British Columbia. I worked as an electronics engineer from 2008-2012 designing various high-fidelity circuits and systems. I learned the concepts below.
Analog and Digital Circuit Design
PCB Design/Signal Integrity
Digital Signal Processing
Microcontroller Programming
Circuit Testing
Electrical Power Generation, Transmission, and Distribution
I obtained my Master's in Biomedical Engineering in 2007 from
McGill University. My research focus was detecting abnormal brain-wave patterns in epilepsy patients. I learned a lot about human biology and was able to apply my electrical engineering knowledge to human body system. I learned the concepts below.
From 2012 onwards, I joined my wife's
IT Consulting firm and provided Business Analysis consulting services to corporate clients. With my engineering background, I was able to find a niche clientele who required a technical engineer with business analysis skillset.
Business Analysis has an interesting relationship with Engineering. If Engineering is the means to solve problems, then Business Analysis is the mechanism to identify and define the problem to be solved. I gained the skills below.
In 2019, I retired from work, and focused full-time on the construction of my house. My wife and I designed it and I was closely involved in the construction phase supervising every aspect. My house is designed per
Net Zero-Ready BC Energy Step Code 5 which is going to be the energy efficiency standard applicable to all new houses in BC from 2032. The design and construction of the house was quite challenging and so I did my own research to learn the following skills and successfully finished the build in 2021.
